  • OBDII Conversion

Does anyone happen to have a wiring diagram to switch a 94 - 95 GTP to a 96 GTP (OBDII conversion)? I did some reading and read that I don't have to change the interior harness of the car. Is this true?

You can just swap the wiring. Its extremely easy since you already have the 96 engine. Its best if you find a 96 GTP, the interior harness from 96+ z34s have diff wiring.

You can probably get by with just the engine bay harness, and running some new wires and re-wring a few things on the inside for the tach and stuff. But if you dontmind swapping interior harness too then just do that unless you know what to chagne (have wiring diags)

I was reading on the w-body.com site and according to the thread I was reading they said it would work fine with the stock harness in the car. Just change a few pins and splice off one wire and put that into the empty slot it says.

One of the guys on there said RedZMonte did it. So I PMed him to find out more info.

I am fixing to do the OBDII swap before I drop my engine and trans back in,and I was also curious about interior wiring.. If only a few wires need to be swapped around that would be hella easier than pulling the dash..

We need some more info please I have a 95 GP,I guess a 96GP would be ideal to get the harness out of,but what other cars harness's might work??

          Thanks

Did you have to change the interior harness,or move any wire pins around? and what about the OBDII plug its self??

              Thanks

He has not done the swap yet, just has the wires ready to go in and be converted over.
I think you'll have to repin a few wires for the stock interior harness to work with the obd2 setup, and a wire or two might needed to be added.

All the wire swap can be done on the engine side of the C100 connector. whats your e-mail addy i have the one timG gave me when i did my swap. D.O.H.C. is doing the swap from a '94 to a '96, mine is a '95 to '96. here is my original post on the swap when i did it. you will also need to add the OBDII style Data Link Connecor under the dash. Brianteel on Engineswap.org has a lot of experience with swaping.
