What would be good aftermarket bearings for our cars? High preformance/street application (durability and drivability are my concerns).

      Hey those sound familiar....

That is what the shop put in my car. They were not cheap though, but nothing on the 3.4 is except for oil.

They were what are in my 3.1 as well. I have a set of federal mogul bearings here as well, which should be good (I hope). Either a bearing works or it doesn't really, since there is a layer of oil betwen the bearing and your parts, there isn't much use in "performance" bearings that I can think of.

The reason I replaced mine with performance ones is becuz they were what went out in my car originally, so basically I wanted to fix the weak spot in the motor.

There is no such thing as a "performance" bearing. Like Ben said, it either spins or it doesn't (basically--I don't want to go into detail about friction or anything like that :P).

liar they call them performance cause of the characteristics they have over other bearings. like they will use different metals so the bearing will inbed more dirt in it, really it has no performance value except longer life.

You just contradicted yourself. I don't associate longer life with performance... quite the opposite actually. :P

Think of a bearing like a tire, the harder the bearing, the longer it lasts. Softer bearings are great because they absorb more dirt and particles that can hurt the moving parts of an engine, but they don't last as long as "standard" bearings. I believe most Performance bearings are slightly softer than OEM. Now, I don't know if this is true for DOHCS or not.
If it\'s fun, it\'s probably illegal and if it\'s illegal I\'m probably doing it.

i have heard the term h-bearing be4. care to shed some light on that terminology?
is there any difference between h-bearings and bearings or is it just an acronym meant to confuse non-techs?

H beam I beam some connecting rods that are different in structure use different bearings...I would think..I am sure that H and I beam rods can use the same bearing if they are idectical except for the structure of the rod itself.

Otherwise it is just a advertising ploy.
