  • 95 GTP Sputtering

Ok. I am going to try to explain this the best as I can.

My car under a load will sputter. When I hit the gas it will start jumping around. Usually only around speeds higher than 30. It does do it though sometimes in the lower speeds.

But I put some higher unleaded octane into see if it would help it any and it did seem to go away a little bit. Wasn't there as much but once I had to fill back up it started again.

Yesterday it was backfiring while I was driving. The backfire is not frequent. Only happens randomly. I tried to re-create the seen on video, but it would not do it anymore. It did not backfire at all today.

This sputtering is very noticeable in OD/TCC lock up. I tested the coil resistance and they came out to 6.47, 6.40 and 6.33.

did you check the wires? bad wires can cause that, even more in damp weather or cold mornings.

Wires are brand new. Only have about 2500 miles on them. 8.5mm Magnecor wires.

I am changing plugs tomorrow. I will see if that fixes it. The plugs only have 2500 miles on them too.

I changed the plugs and it seemed to have fixed the problem.

Here is a pic of the plugs that came out of it. They are in order. Top left plug is piston #1 and bottom right one is piston #6. These plugs were pre-gapped from factory @ .060 and thats the way I left them.
