  • 3.4 DOHC Dress-up

I did some dress-up on my Fiero's 3.4 DOHC while it was out for a clutch change.

This pic is the most color-accurate:

The intake is cherry red and the cam carrier covers are a slightly darker maroon/cherry red.

Note these pics were taken before I hooked a breather up to the two aluminum tubes, and I also hadn't installed the throttle cable bracket. It's all together now but I haven't had a chance to take any more well-lit pics. I hope these will suffice.
Also my Getrag input shaft bearing took a dump so the motor is coming right back out again this weekend (I just put it back in last weekend for Fiero Westfest). Oui.

What Color of Red is that? It looks Metallic. I had been looking for a color like that for my DOHC. Thanks

The intake is "Toreador Red", and the cam carrier covers are "Garnet Red". These are Duplicolor touch up spray can paints.

Wow that looks great! I'm assuming that oil fill cap location is custom?

Would have to be. Looks pretty good. I'mm wondering where he got the delte pulley for the power steering pump.
I may own a GTO now, but I'm still a 60V6er at heart.

Do you have pictures or a link showing how you built your intake?

              Thanks

Thanks. Yes, that is a rear cover on the front, and a rear cover on the back with a fill cap boss from Jegs added in. I could have just stuck the rectangular cover on the front so I had an accessible oil fill, but I think these ones look much cooler.

No, it was just a short weekend project... cut the plenum off a little bit past the intake bolt bosses, leaving the throttle body.. weld on a 3" aluminum tube.. add vacuum fittings..

It's from some 3800 SC car. I bought the pulley at Kragen or Autozone.. I forget the application. I made a pulley spacer and ran a bolt through the top power steering pump hole, with a nut on the other side. I also added a brace from the top bolt hole to the bottom bolt hole so it doesnt stress the weak casting.

Would you mind taking a picture strait down on top and one of the vacuum fittings that you added if possible?

                  Thanks

The fittings are under the intake. I just drilled and tapped the plenum for NPT of the appropriate size for barb fittings...

Here's the straight down pic I took

What are you trying to see?

On nothing in particular... I'm just trying to see how you cut the plenum and constructed it so that I can shamelessly plagiarize your work.

                      Thanks for the picture.

                          Thanks!

I hope that you don't mind if I copy (as far as I can) what you have done.

Did you do the welding yourself?

                            Feel free.
No, the welding was the one part I didn't do myself.

Are those ARP fasteners for the intake?
