And is there some sort of vin# to look for for a manual car from CA? Reason being is I want to drop one in a 85 Fiero I just picked up, but want to keep my manual. Can a remanufactured ECU be purchased? or maybe the manual trans chip?

Ok, thanks for the reply. Have to excuse my ignorance, but what a W-bodied cars?
Edit: ok, I Googled "w-body" and came up with Luminas, Grand Prix, Buick Regal and Olds Cutlass. Did all of these models have the manual option? I'm pretty sure the Grand Prix most likely did, was just wondering about the others.
Another question is there a number in the vin# that would designate it a CA car?

i was thinking that too, i heard that the hm 284's are difficult to install into the fiero's. most fiero guys use the 282's i thought. if my 284 ever dies, i may have to use a 282 myself. easiest way to tell if a w-body is a 5 spd is simply to look at it.The Official Rotating Mass Nazi
