I have been quoted roughly $1k for custom 8.5:1 Wiseco pistons and $1k for custom Pauter rods. I will be sending off a piston and rod from my 97 motor to have custom pistons and rods made in about a month (that's the first time I will be home and might have time to pull them). These are the top of the line. Those parts should be the strongest parts in the entire motor.

ouch, are you going to look into putting a 3500 steel crank in your w-body as well? if u use custom pistons, you can put the crank and rods right in there.

the block will have to be clearenced of course and TCE makes a external 7x reluctor kit for the pushrod engines, they may be able to do the same for us just by changing some bracketry if some1 asked.

try looking into JE pistons. i remember a while back they made me a set of custom 391 stroker pistons for about $660. of course this was about 6 years ago.

If anybody is interested in these rods or pistons, just let me know. They should withstand anything you can throw at them.

I thought about a 3500 crank. The idea just doesn't sound too terribly tempting though. It's a lot of extra work without a huge gain. With the 3500 crank, if I used it, I would be interested in having it offset ground to use the stock DOHC journal diameters, but with longer stroke.

I'm going with the rods (instead of modified SBC ones) because they're probably the best rods I have ever seen or used. I didn't expect the pistons to cost that much, though I am not surprised. The Arias in my S2000 were a good $600 or more for the set of 4.

I was quoted around $700 from somewhere (Diamond sounds familiar, however I emailed a lot of companies.) so $1k seems right on. I don't know of the ones I was looking at were as nice as the Wisecos.
