What is the deal with the people selling cars where you live? Almost 2 years ago I got a 96 lumina with 120k for $950, and it was even in pretty good shape. Of course it has spun a cam bearing since then.... but it was nice while it lasted. I drove it for over a year so I think I got my money out of it. $4200 for a car that is 9 years old and over 100k just seems like too much to me. Once again it's your money, but I wouldn't touch that car for $4200 bucks. There are always good deals to be had, just look around some.

the kbb doesn't dictate the actual "market value" of the car. but no way you'd get 3k for it on a wbody site. you may get 3k from a non-wbody enthusiast.
where do u live anyhow?
on average a car like you described would go for about $1000 around here.
but that is an average price, i personally pay more or less depending on where u live. if u live in the north, i pay way less or maybe even not at all. if u live in the south, i pay average-little more. if u live on or near a coast or FL, i run. if u live in the midwest i pay average. lastly, if u live in an arid climate such as TX or AZ, basically anywhere hot and dry i would be willing to pay the most for vehicles from these areas.
FYI: i bought a 94 gp gtp with a near-perfect body, HUD, several mods including a 5 spd swap and a slew of turbo parts for $750($1250 after shipping). The Official Rotating Mass Nazi

I've decided against the GTP however I found a Monte Carlo Z34 for sale for 900. I could probably go a little lower, maybe 700. It needs brakes, exhaust, headlight, and a tuneup at the very least. When at idle it will waver back and forth between about 900 and maybe 1400 or 1500 rpm. I was going through the vents and A/C and turned it back on hot vent, the car did a few cycles of up to 1500 and back down to 900 rpm and then got weaker and weaker and just stalled out. It has 193000 miles on it. Is the car worth a little work assuming all the body is decent except the front passenger side quarter panel and a headlight assembly?

My general rule for buying a car that needs work is to add in the price of the parts/labor to the price you will pay for it for. By the time you get it running right you might have 1500 or more into it and still have a car with almost 200k on it. If it's running that bad and you don't know exactly what is wrong then you might want to steer clear. It could be simple or it could be a huge pain.
