  • How rare 3.4 DOHC 5 SPD's?

    Hey everyone,

I have a 1991 Z34 5spd and I was wondering in general HOW RARE are the 1991 - 1993 W-bodies with the 5 spd? I was thinking of weither to sell it or keeping it.

I would only keep one either my 1991 STE 3.4 (Brand New condition just under 100,000 miles) or my 1991 Z34 5spd (also in great shape) cause I own a few vehicles already.

    hmmmmmmmmmmmmm............

the 5 spd's are getting harder to come by. probably more so in canada.

personally i like the gp's better, especially the interior. when i was in a z-34 the interior layout made me feel like i was in my grandma's buick.

i have a 94 gtp with a 5spd swapped in so the interior layout is different from the 91-93.

only things i think the lumi has over the gp is a better rear spoiler and they are lighter. but like he said go by your own preferences

I like the Z34 also. I'm an LQ1 nut though. 5 spd makes it so much better. Got pics?

Luminas are parts cars so that should answer your question.

LOL, he says that, but it's true. I got my remanned 284 out of a 92 Z34, and shifter cables, and pedals, and clutch hydraulic system, and tranny mounts, and shifter, and that's it.

But, I also had a '92 Z34 5 speed that I relarned to drive stick on and gave me a thrill for 18 months and 40,000+ miles. Despite the fact that it tried to spin itself off the road every time you turned left hard and it ran out of fuel every time you turned to the right with less than 1/4 tank, I loved that car. I'm told that the guy who bought it (with blown head gaskets and no 2nd gear) has fixed the trany, built up the motor and fixed the suspension woes and it's doing quite well. I'll have to check in on my old girl some day. Here's to the car that rebirthed my love for the LQ1:

Nice car, I vote to keep the 5-speed Z-34.

Hell, I've always been a Chevy guy!

IT IS a hard choice cause the STE DOES have the 3.4, HUD, Leather, and it has all the options. I have the original SALES BROCHURE AND ALL the original New Vehicle Items, like the "PONTIAC" Emergency break-away credit card key set.

Hey HAS ANYONE SEEN THEM BEFORE BY THE WAY?????????

I'll have to show everone some of the cool items

                  I LOVE the Z34 Outside
                  but
I LOVE the STE Inside ( To me NO COMPARISION, lol )

The back of the STE looks awesome but what I hate about the front and the sides is it looks the same as even a LE!!!!!!! I HATE THAT! The STE SHOULD have been a 4dr Grand Prix that was Cool or agressive compared to the LE or SE! GM should have made the STE like Ford did with the older SHO. To me it looked like a COOL 4dr on the outside compared to there regular model's in the SE, SL, etc

IF it was a GTP 5spd 93' and older I'd keep it in a heart beat.

LOL, I can always put a body kit on the STE, spolier, rims, etc and it would look much better.

                    Ya
the 3.4 is a Beast with the 5spd.

the auto isn't bad IF you spend A lot of money on it, and get the 3:73's , etc

OR, you could rip the 5 speed out of the Z34 and put it in the STE and have the perfect car!

                        Very true!

                        There were 125 3.4 DOHC 5spd STE's made in 1991.

That would be cool, a real sleeper, lol

And I would still have the loaded car!

Contrary to popular belief, the Lumina is heavier than a GP, and it's all in its ace.
