  • Selling the monte

Well, I bought a new house and started my own business (vineyard managment) www.progrape.com.

Times are tight right now and I thought of selling the Z34, but, I decided to cash in on the 401k instead.

Besides, the car wont fetch much more than 3000 I think, and damn I have spent more than that. Plus, like I am going to sell the car to some kid who wont take care of it. I don't think so. I am glad I didn't sell it.

Very hard to sell the car for several reasons.

I built the engine, looks great, but I am not a (certified) mechanic.
Damn lifter, or injector noise / tick.
Funny clunking sound from passenger side (near strut?)
Fans dont turn on automatically, must turn on AC for fans to kick on.
    AC does not blow cold.

Other than that the car is in great condition, doesn't leak at all!
I have put over 10k miles and it runs strong.
The car definately likes to be revved up.
I love the breaks, stops on a dime now. (SS lines, drilled/slotted, rear disk)

Once I get some money flow, I plan on the following:
    Custom headers
    Nitrous 100 shot
    Paint
    That is about it.

Did you check your valve guides? There seems to be a link with "lifter noise" and loose guides. Also oiling. Josh has been going through his engine and could probably make a list now of everything that might be causing it on his car.

    Good luck with the business!

      Thanks,

Yeah, I just secured two awesome accounts, one 100 yr old vineyard and another 125 acre vineyard, so good news today as far as work is concerned.

What about the guides? I had the heads rebuilt with new guides.

Oiling, yeah I had problems with the "dummy" shaft bearings, the shaft in the middle of the engine that turns the oil pump. On one of the bearings the book says to have the hole offset and I starved the upper end, on the second rebuild I lined up the bearing hole with the flow (hopes that makes sense).

Any help tips on the next rebuild would be appreciated as far as oiling is concerned.

The new jobs are so good I will probably do a frame off restoration.

thanks againg 60v6 community, especially ben for the forum.
