I've got a 1992 Euro3.4 sedan, and I need to remove the rear bumper in order to replace my rear rebar which is completely rusted. Can someone tell me how to remove the bumper? Where are the metal clips/bolts all located?
in the wheelwell to the plastic liner, up from below along the 1/4 panel - IIRC 3 on each side. drivers side is 2 from below, one from top(pull carpet sides away in the trunk and you'll see what i refer to). pop out taillights(from in trunk). remove the steel panel between lights and bumper(2 nuts 2 bolts, 2 from outside 2 from inside). then the cover has plastic tabs holding it to the steel bumper.
So once I'm ready to remove the plastic bumper, am I just going to pull on it with some force in order to release the bumper from the plastic tabs? Should the plastic tabs release from plastic bumper or will it pull out of the steel bumper?
p.s. What does IIRC stand for? I am assuming its a type of bolt/screw?
if i recall correctly. meaning its been 3 years since i've done this.
the plastic things are push in clips that go through holes in the urethane outer bumper cover into the steel. you pop them out with a prybar. there are some underneath and some on top evident when you remove the taillights.
