  • Group Buy: Billet TBs $225

For the group buy I don't want to mess with doing the modication to the shafts to swap the linkage setups, as I don't have enough cores to support this. The only way id consider it is if people could be patient while others return cores. Given my return percentage most people seem to opt for the extra $50 to keep their stocker. For the $225 price I will modify your TB if you send me one to do. Free labor basically for those that can send me something first.

I don't have any 62s currently though depending on the interest this group buy generates I may gave a lot made or just a couple. I do have 65s in stock.

How many people to get this price? At least 5. Spread the word cause I can't. Most sites have sponsor rules that say I cannot advertise my own stuff on other boards, only other people's products. I cannot go any cheaper so please don't ask "what if we get 10+".

Please either email me or post here if you are interested. The amount of interest dictates how we go about this. Shipping is not included in the price.

What's the diffrence/benefit of a 62 over 65mm? Just curious, as I'd like one, but can't afford one.

I already want one, as I'm doing a 3500 plenum swap. I'd be interested in a group buy except for the fact that the TB would be going on my daily driver and I can't send a core first. I'd probably have bought one by now if only I could use my credit card.

You should be able to through paypal. I have the business account type setup and I pay enough in fees for them to take it.

If I start taking credit cards direct, I will have to increase my prices a little.

For cores, I can still do a $50 core charge while I have enough cores to supply the demand. I could do a 2 week core charge time and speed up the process. That way after 2 weeks I can buy another TB to replace the last one.

SE's are cool: you can just buy it unassembled, then when you get it, take off your old TB, take it apart, and assemble the shaft/etc into the 65mm unit. Shouldn't be too hard or take much longer.

You still need the tools (dremel!) to widen the slot in the shaft to accept the bigger butterfly plate. It's not too difficult to do but is an added expense if you don't have these tools already.

You can use a saw blade or a thin file as well. Im going to see if the air powered handsaw at the machine shop will make the task easier. I hate the dremel setup with the round disc and the square slot that I am modifying.

It really isn't that hard to do it yourself though other than the widening of the slot. I have pictures showing the process (minus the front stud for the bracket that I wasn't aware of when I made the walkthrough).

That's what I plan on doing; I have all the tools I need at work. See my new sig!

Well the amount of interest I get determines how long. I would say that I would like to get this wrapped up in a couple weeks if I can. I am working on getting enough cores so that I can get rid of the core charge (but the cost will go up). Then I can offer to buy the stock TBs or the customer can sell the TB to someone else.

You can use the RSM TB with your setup. I am not sure what sort of gain you would get going with a 65 other than it is the stock setup for the 3500 motor anyway and let you use the O rings in the adapter instead of cutting a gasket and then possibly the TB for the IAC passage. I am not sure which design your RSM TB is.

EDIT: talking about 3400/3100 TB on a 3500 adapter:
The TB depends on the intake it was matched to. The earlier ones the TB was machined for the IAC to go past the gasket into the bore. The later ones the intake had a square cut out at the top for the IAC passage, the TB IAC passaged didn't cut into the bore, and the gasket had the square notched to flow through. If you have the later TB, you will need to notch it with a dremel/etc to open the IAC passage into the bore area. Then you use either old or new style gaskets with the 3500 adapter. You *may* be able to get by with out doing that and using a new style gasket, but then the thickness of the gasket is going to be the only path for air to sneak by. Which may or may not be enough. I went ahead and notched mine.

If you want to get really creative, and keep the stock TB and still use o-rings with the adapter, then you put a flat peice of JB weld over the IAC square port, then drill/dremel a hole into the IAC chamber into the main bore of the TB. Or welding would work too if you can do that. I thought about doing that, but $2 for a paper gasket or so doesn't bother me. I can also use the older ones (like 3100) if they are cheaper too if I want.

I'm wondering what RSM does to the TB. If they just port/polish the opening, or if they actually machined and bored it out and put a larger butterfly plate in...

Supposedly its a 62mm bore. I have heard people say its really 61 and someone else said it was 58. I dunno, as I have never had one but I know their 70mm DOHC TB is 69.
