  • Billet Throttlebodies for Gen 3 Pushrods

Wow. I had seen the pictures while they were being made but its not until you have one in your hands that you can see how nice they are. Beveled edges, stainless hardware, all 1 piece aluminum billet CNC cut. Bell shaped inlet and a lip on the outside to help keep the clamp in place for the intake tube. IAC passage is angled so hopefully there won't be any of that whistle sound some of us know from the older billet TBs. Throttle plate is also a pretty damn good seal all the way around. I will know for sure how tight it is once I get it assembled but its much tighter than the older billet TBs as well.

I have 2 62mm TBs in stock, and 3 65s though the 65s are pretty much claimed unless someone backs out. There will be more made though so no worries there.

Price is $275 plus $50 core unless you can send me a throttlebody first so I can modify the shaft to accept the larger plate. I will also offer them for $250 without the linkage and you can modify/swap them on your own. Its really not that difficult if you are comfortable with doing it and I know there are people on this site that fit that category

I could use some help with the linkage setups as im not sure how many variations there are for the gen 3 motors. I know 96 3100 grand am is different from an 01 3400 grand am.

Also, which pic do you like better on the store, the bright one or the dark one. I couldn't decide so I threw them both up there. I will take some more pics once I get one assembled. I will also take some pics of the plates to show just how much difference there is between stock and these.

It looks to have a fair bit in common with the FDP throttlebodies of lore only a one piece design.

Upon test fit, this first batch has 1 problem. The IAC mounting tab nearest the plenum will have to be ground down as it overhangs the TB a little. So, im reducing the price $25 for the 2 62s that I have here for anyone that isn't bothered by this. Thats $275 for a 62mm billet TB. $250 if you install the plate yourself (directions included). I also have the adapters now for the 3500 plenum, which I will take pics of. They are prototype for the pics, as 2 holes had to be redone to fit so that won't be the case on the next batch as well (it doesn't affect anything either way). Ill have them on the store once I get pricing but ill post up some pics tonight.

I will have the 3500 plenum swap kit on the store once we have it dynoed and a picture walkthrough of what is involved for the swap.

Niiiice. I'm tempted to get rid of my 62mm RSM TB for one of these. I still have some work on a custom CAI to do and it would be much easier with a round end instead of the oval shaped stock one. And looks nicer too boot!

Couple quick questions. You said that more would be made, any idea how long? If I'm going ditch the TB I have now for a new one I'd rather have a 65mm. Also what kind of modification has to be made to the shaft for the new throttle plate? If I get one I'll probably sell the one I have to someone else who can use a 62mm stock type TB rather than gut it, so I'll probably just buy the TB without the core and get a junk yard TB for parts.

I think I can have one of the 62s bored to 65 if you want one of these that needs the IAC mounting tab ground down. Ill have to talk to TCE about a timeframe on the next batch of 65s.

To install the shaft, you will need to open up the slot in the shaft to accept the 65mm plate. I use a die grinder with a cut off wheel to remove the metal. One side of the slot is already large enough so you just have to remove the angle cut GM made. To pull the stocker apart though, just remove the TPS and the stock plate, and then use a hammer to tap the shaft out of throttle body. Make sure you look at how the stock spring is setup on the throttle body (ill have pics though for all this).

The plate has an X mark for reference, but those details will also be included.

I know of at least 5 different throttle connections used.

                  Montana/U-van
                  Malibu
                  Early W-body
                  Late W-body
That oddball MAF built in '95 Cutlass thing
There's another early "94 to '96ish linkage that's different than the rest.

I'd definitely be interested if they could bore it out to 65mm. I have a die grinder/dremel/cutoff wheels etc so I don't think I'd have any problem fixing the IAC or the shaft. Let me know if they can do it.

Ill take pics of the linkages that I have as I get the throttlebodies. Ill probably just order one from car-part.com as I get an order for the different vehicle types so hopefully I can get a complete list to select from on the store.

Ill call them up and see about getting a 62 turned into a 65 and let you know.

Ok, im sending them a throttlebody to bore to 65 for you. The IAC may not be an issue for you as it could be a 3500/adapter issue with it hitting. Either way, pricing is what I quoted above.

Cool, glad they could do it. So was it $250 or $275? I don't mind paying the difference if it cost extra to send it back to get re-bored either since I requested it and all. How do I go about ordering and paying? Haven't bought from you before.

Normally id have to order it through the store, but since this I don't have the DIY option or the lower pricing on there, just send me 257 paypal to sappyse107@60degreev6.com. Ill go ahead and send you one the 65 I was gonna use for dyno testing, and then ill use the redone one instead. No wait that way.

Just put a note that its for a 65mm DIY TB.

kind of off topic but what will you be offering in your 3500 UIM swap? willy ou be offering 3500 UIM's with the neck clearanced and a porti and polish service? i would be interested in that if you were to offer it (seperate from the kit of course)

oh and back on topic, 97 (malibu atleast but maybe 99 for the rest))-05 n-bodies should all share the same linkage
