So I have a 1996 beretta with a 3100 i found a 3400 for $400 i was wondering if i could put my upper intake on the 3400 so it looks like a 3100. and if that is possible would the pump up the same.

The blocks are identifiable on the outside. If you can modify your engine, why not do that instead? You can use the 3100 intakes on a 3400 but if they see A on the block, they will know its a 3400 block. Put the 00+ 3100 heads and manifolds on your motor.Last edited by SappySE107; 08-21-2010, 06:35 PM.Ben

Cam it and do the newer heads and manifolds. Port them and its even better. I have headers available, though not in stock yet. The design is done though and more are being made. What are you going to do about tuning? That is very important. DHP does your 96 PCM and HPTuners would do a 97 PCM that drops right into your harness.Ben

PCM is your computer. DHP is out of business but you can still find the hardware used sometimes. Cam depends on the powerband you use. You would need new valve springs at least, and if you went with a cam bigger than what I have listed as Street, then longer pushrods are a must.Ben

grab a 3500 and grind the C off the block, drop that in with a healthy cam and a 3100 upper intake.
