  • Manley retainers question

I just need to clarify this,

"Comp on the left, Manley on the right. Same install height but the Manley is cut down flush to the retainers for more rocker clearance."

now it seems from the pic the keepers are sticking out on the right side. are the manley ones not on the left?

sorry I know it sounds like a dumb question its just bugging me and I need to know lol

What? I don't see any keepers in that picture. Left side is Comp Cams, right side is Manley.

I believe that's the tip of the valve stem.

          Correct, that is the valve.

Come on down, and bring more engine parts cause the pistons are back in the block (need to get the car sometime...)

This weekend would have been nice... The rain came and removed all of the snow for us, but now the snow came back. I had a box truck in the drive again anyways. Got to finish the steering components outside... That was fun.

                  ok I got it now

our stock rockers are rather wide, for a minute I was thinking it would be bad if the valve stem was sticking out. I guess thats why I thought the pic should of been the other way around. but turns out thats fine. some rockers are narrower and more focused on hitting just the valve anyway

I'll post a pic later on showing why the Comp locks suck for our engines..

                    *edit..

you can see that the comp lock increased the installed height slightly and caused the one rocker to rub on the retainer. The rocker seems fine but i don't think i'll re-use that retainer.

Do the Manley locks and retainers fit Comp 26981 and 11/32 valve stem? Sorry but i didn't see that in the description. This will be fitted on a pair of iron heads.

No, they are 8mm so they will not fit that valve.

Ok, so that rules out the locks. What about the retainers. Can they be matched with Comp locks? I'm trying to avoid what Superdave encountered. Sorry to hijack the thread.

The comp locks were the big problem on the 8mm versions. I have no clue what you need for iron head valves.
