  • Do the lifter springs fit a 3900?

Just curious if anyone knows for sure. I'm starting my cam swap and debating on doing this at the same time.

OK, I ordered them anyway and dropped the engine off at the shop yesterday for the cam swap. I'll let everyone know if they work or not. It'll probably be a few weeks before I get it back though.

I'm surprised a shop was willing to take on something this custom... Your lucky you have people in your area like that.

How much were the spacers, and does he have anymore? Do those spacer press on to the cam or in the block?

The creator of the spacers is actually a long time member here. I was told not to reveal who, or was it, not to mention the spacers at the time. Not sure anymore but I'll withold the source until further notice. I've had a set of the spacers for quite a while, just haven't been able to make it back home as of yet to put them to use if I decide to do away with the VVT altogether.

I now have a Gtech Pro RR model accelerometer with the analysis software so the first thing to do before the engine build up is to do a test run with the cam advanced and retarded in the current motor and compare the results to determine if there is an appreciable difference with the cam advanced vs. retarded to justify a simple on off cam retard at high rpm.

I'm waiting on my second reground cam to arrive which is basically the stock LSA with slightly more duration than stock and considerably more lift. I decided to stay close to the stock grind for the greatest potential benefit from its designed function as the tighter LSA on the current camshaft did not respond as well as the stock cam on simulation when retarded and advanced.

The engine builder says the springs worked. He also said the lifters are the same part number as the earlier engines.

I got the engine running and had to change out the lifters for stock ones. It seemed to be random if they pumped up or not. My opinion is to avoid these lifters in the 3900.
