Can you put it on the block? I really don't know how the stock iron head gasket looks on an iron head. I am going to compared the gaskets I have here on my blocks to compare.

Ok, they are not centered, but they do not hit the pistons. I installed a head here to verify. I will see what I get for an answer on why they are not centered.

They hang over the block but I am not sure there is an issue with this. I know the tabs stick out beyond the mating surface on purpose.

        Ok, thanks....

The embossed part of the head gasket hangs over the edge, as you can see in the 2nd picture. This is not right according to the installation notes that come with the gaskets.

Also because they are not centred the embossed fire ring crosses right over a coolant passage.

I will know tomorrow, but I need every set sent back. These are not based on a 3400 head gasket and in no way will work with any motor they were designed for. They were made off a 3900 head gasket, and the offset/coolant passage issue kills this.

This is a big bummer... I hope they correct this and honor the fact that they designed them wrong without checking. It sucks because i can't build the motor till I get these unless I feel like dumping money on stock gaskets and then I'd have to pull and resurface the heads again when I do get these back.

God I hope they can correct it in a decent time frame.

I do not know anything right now. it effects EVERY order for these gaskets as they have not be contacted yet. It is sunday. I cannot do anything else today. I have pics, measurements, heads, and gaskets all going to cometic tomorrow. If they weren't 5 hours away, i would drive a block to them as well.

One other thing to check, I'm not sure if its been discussed, But the lower coolant passages are 100% blocked off on a 3400 block as well with the LX9 head gasket. I'm not sure if that's a LX9 to LA1 difference or the same with them following the 3900 gaskets.

I also noticed, they mark the gaskets as Left and Right, now is that Left from behind or Left from the front of the motor? Because if you go from the front of the engine and put the Left side gasket on the Left side, (bank 1,3,5) then the tab that says L UP hits the timing cover and won't fit, you need to put that gasket on the right side (bank 2,4,6) so the tab is at the back of the motor.

The left side is the oil filter side. The coolant passages on the ouside surface do not line up due to it being copied from a 3900 gasket, not a 3400. The lifter side is fine.

Ok, so sides are referenced from looking at the back of the motor, making bank 2,4,6 left, and 1,3,5 right... aka front=left rear=right. confused yet lol. That would make their tabs fit then.

And yeah I was expecting the coolant passage issue to once again be because they copied the wrong gasket.

I hope things go well for you today and you get a good solid answer from them. I hope its nothing like their original time frame was, otherwise I may have to scrap the plan of even using these.

I'm sending my gaskets back to you this afternoon.

These have been avilable since October of last year... and no one has installed them yet? If not thats a good catch, at least for possible issues that it could have caused.

Yeah, I thought it was weird nobody installed these yet too. I'm glad I noticed in time to stop anybody from trying these.

I think coolant would have run right into 2 of the cylinders. That would be quite the 'issue'!
