  • 3500 LIM gasket kit

so, i see the 3500 LIM gasket kit is availible now

i assume it does NOT come with headgaskets? you wouldn't happen to have the GM part number for those laying around would you? easier for me to ask you then look, last time i tried looking myself i came up with 132 bucks for one, so i assume it wasn't the right thing :P

They are not available seperate, only as part of the GM head gasket kit.

I think he means the Felpro LIMG. But yeah HG probably not sold separate by GM either.

Could a 3400 HG be used?

i'd liek the felpro LIM set and some GM head gaskets. if i can't get it that way i guess i'll have to just buy the GM LIMG set so i can egt the head gaskets. i know dave has been running them and had no problems, so it doesn't worry me too much if i have to run the GM gaskets.

They should have a bulletin when something big like this comes out . . .

I'm pretty sure the 3400 head gasket will work, at least on a 3400 block. I just fit one up to a 3500 head and seems to just barely stay completely outside the combustion chamber when aligned with the dowels. I will admit I do like the GM gaskets but the last 3500 head gasket kit I bought cost me about $210. At about $80 for the Fel-Pro LIM set and $20 a head gasket, I think I'll take my chances with it. I'm putting this engine in my beater car so I'm not too worried about the head gasket blowing out prematurely. I'll probably have the engine out a couple times by the time that happens.

I guess it's a good thing I waited. The last part I needed engine wise was the gasket set. I'm definitely looking forward to saving a few bucks there!

they are actually holding up quite well. the set i pulled from my 2nd 3500 had ~53K on them and showed no signs of leaking.

Sure, I can get 3400 head gaskets seperate but you can't get 3500 head gaskets seperate.

Do the 3400 head gaskets fit the 3500 block? I never checked that out when I had one apart here before. It still works for me to do a 3400 with 3500 top end but I figured they wouldn't have opened the gasket by .05 if the 3400 one still fit.

Yes, but it's tight. I had 3.4 Camaro gaskets on my 3500 in '07. I measured 3.71" diameter on the gasket and the 3500 has a 3.7" bore.

It does work but not with a big cam with alot of exhaust duration. I have some nice dents in my pistons now.
