Aquasonic 100 Ultrsound Transmission Gel. Water soluble and hypoallergenic cause thats important to engine parts:P Does an excellent job though.

Out of curiosity, what would you use this for?

Check the thickness of the cylinder walls to determine max overbore. Check the thickness of cylinder head decks or inside ports for porting. See how thin the manifolds are where I remove bumps and large amounts of casting mismatch. I can see how thick the metal is on my rear fender where its rusting out to determine where the rust can be cut out and new metal put in (if that happens). Its good for more than just aluminum and iron too

There's a better "instrument" for determining that measurement.

Quiz time for the noobs. Do those numbers in the attached photos make sense? If so, why?

Thats how thick that spot is on that perticular head

                      Some purdy port work there

Glad you got the gel, so now you need to check accuracy with some hacked-up heads/parts

I already checked with the EGR deletes and its spot on.

That head is junk and I use it for a backstop in my porting box for parts to lean against:P

That part is obvious, but you didn't completely answer the question. Why would there be a thickness difference?

By the placement and the angle of the probe, I'd say that the spark plug boss has something to do with the significant difference in thickness.

You would probably also want to have coolant decently close to the exhaust port to keep it from melting, I would think.
