after looking at the pump closer, it appears its just the body thats going to be clearanced and it SHOULDNT hurt the pump. the only problem is that where i would be grinding is very close to where the drive shaft attaches and i dont want to hurt the strength of the pump. but ill try grinding the pump tomorrow. edit: is there supposed to be a gasket between the pump and cap? i dont remember taking one off but id rather be safe than sry. thx

your studs look shorter than the studs i was given. look at my first 2 pictures. front with no washer, and front of yours with no washer. your studs must be different than mine.[SIGPIC]

I had the same issue with oil pump clearance. I shaved off about a 1/16 of an inch off the pump which provided just enough room for the stud, nut, and double stacked washers. Just to clarify though I am working with the lz9 motor.98 camaro swapping in lz9 th400 setup
LZ9 specs: (Subject to Change work in progress)
4.0L(after bore 3.917 and stroke 3.3485),carrillo sbc rods(narrowed),wiseco custom forged pistons 8.5:1 CR, TCE Double Roller timing chain, gen 3 cam, P&P heads, headers 1 3/4 primaries into 3-1 collector, and going to run ms2.
