This is my first post, so greetings all. I’m in the process of getting a 3400 from an 05 Impala ready to swap into my 86 Fiero and heard this is the go-to place for good info. I’m sure I’ll have lots of questions as I get further along, but for starters, here is a mystery:

When I pulled the upper intake manifold to replace the gaskets, I heard something rattling around inside the manifold and when I shook it, a small yellow plastic cap thingy fell to the floor. It’s about 1/2” long x 3/8 diameter and has the word “Niagara” and some numbers molded into the closed end. I will try to post a pic. I’m new to GM products but it looks to me like a cap that comes on new drill bits and end mills. ????! If it belongs to the intake or throttle body, where might it belong?

Welcome It sounds like you found something that shouldn't be in your engine. Hope you don't find any other surprises in there.

As Ben said, welcome! I was thinking maybe a fuel rail cap or something? But being inside of the intake seems a little odd for sure...

That is used to seal something, like a fuel rail or a vacuum port, during storage or shipping.

It seems clear that whatever it is, it had no business being inside the intake and was justly evicted. It must have gotten in there after the engine was pulled.
