2.8 gen 2 crank in 3100 block-whats needed?

Hi, Ive been interested in building one of these "hybrids" for a while, based around a 3100 block, besides different connecting rods & pistons, what else would be needed to put a Gen 2 fwd 2.8 crank in a 3100 block, & are there any decent cam options that would work for something like this, or would I need to have a custom grind?

Rods are the same, pistons had different pin heights to correct the stroke difference. The crank itself will bolt right in, but you will be lacking the DIS trigger wheel.

The only parts that you would need different are the crank and pistons. The rods are the same, both at 5.7" long and share the same dimensions at both the big and little ends.

Stock genIII cam should work well, that is if you are planning on keeping the genIII top end.

A Gen 2 FWD crank has the 7x trigger ring.

I would use pistons for a later 2.8 from a Camaro, smaller dish for more compression..

12.89:1 with .040 headgaskets
11.93:1 with .060 headgaskets

With the right cam you could make some good power and still have it run on pump gas...



8.94:1 with the Gen 2 FWD 2.8 pistons and .040 headgaskets
8.5:1 with .060 gaskets

A little too low there, all figures are with gen 3 heads.
