3100 vs 3.1

Okay, so I have a 90 Lumina base sedan that I bought recently with a blown motor. I have a 3100 out of a 95 Buick that was recently rebuilt before the buick rotter out and we scrapped it. How hard is it to swap the two? I am not looking for a performance build, its just for a winter vehicle.

My understanding is that i can take the top end, heads and intake from the 3.1 and bolts them onto the 3100 and some other accys probably, and they should swap and be relatively easy?

Is this somewhat accurate?

Using the 3.1 top end on the 3100 bottom will choke that engine. I would swap the whole thing. I'm not sure on specifics, but most of it should be a straight bolt in, I believe.

it's doable...

quick run through the compression calculator shows a 9.87:1 compression ratio, assuming i did everything correctly.

I had 9.82:1 on my sheet but that's close enough, It'll make a little more power than stock for sure. Still better off keeping the better heads for the gas mileage.
