  • Quick questions regarding the cleaning of parts:

    1. What is a good way to clean up the LIM & UIM? There seems to be a lot of dust &etc INSIDE the upper intake.

    2. As far as the rocker arms are concerned can I just clean them up with soap/water and then let them soak in oil until time for installation?

I'll have some more new parts coming in soon and am trying to get some modifications done on the UIM as we speak.

    thanks

    • Got my package today from TCE

I felt like an 8 year old on Christmas morning when I disembowled what lay inside.

      Without further delay....

      MoEr Partz pics !

To summarize, I got the billet thermostat housing, black annodized 3400 TB (bored to 59mm), 3x00 valve covers, and a billet/chrome "3400" oil filler cap.

I'm especially impressed with how great the throttlebody looks am determined to paint my upper intake to match.

Marc was great to work with and would order from him again without pause for second thought.

      that's it for now!

      • The easiest way to clean up the LIM is a hot tank or a hot wash, heck, a dish washer would work great seeing as how your not married!

i should get a purpous used one for my garage when i build it, not a bad idea...

        • hmm hot tank... is that like boiling water and then just dumping it into a bucket with the parts inside?

                      • When I was tearing apart and rebuilding things for my 3400 > 3500 swap I went through a whole bunch of purple power and an electric pressure washer. Soak, spray, repeat. Did wonders on a salvage yard timing cover and oil pan.

                          • Purple power works very good to remove grease and crud but doesn't get off the corrosion. PP will burn/discolor aluminum if you let it sit too long.

For corrosion removal, we buy gallon jugs of A/C coil cleaner and it works pretty good. I have also had decent luck using Eagle One etching wheel cleaner. Mothers used to make some that worked great but no longer offers it. The coil cleaner and wheel cleaner contain acid so handle with care.

I don't know what kind of look you are going for or the amount of time you want to spend but you could always cut off the EGR passage and weld any unwanted holes up for a cleaner look. It's slow dirty work but the UIM and valve covers can be polished as well. We milled the top of this UIM flat before it was polished as the owner is going to have a Healey logo engraved on it.
