Torches and welders can work miracles. I've seen front to back, and back to fronts. Nothing is impossible. Some are not so productive. Like when I mounted a 12 HP David Bradley chainsaw engine, on a swing arm steering lawn mower. Not productive. If you are driving a Chevy, everything else, is just a blur. 3.4 Carbon Footprint.

That's probably the hard way to do it. Back in the day, mid-engine mods were quite a fad. There was even a "kit" to put a small block motor in the back of a Corvair. Let your imagination be your guide and follow nobody else' rules for what you want to achieve. The physical world has all the rules for what will work and what won't already built in.
If you ain't rock and roll, you must be driving a Honda

With enough beer, pizza, sawzall blades and welding wire anything is possible.
I think you need to take a look at a Fiero first though, you might be surprised at how it's set up.
