        BCC = TCE

The RWD headers refer to iron heads.

Don't know if you got my later post. the truck is a '92 Isuzu P'up, not an S10 but did originally have a 3.1 w/TBI.
What vehicle had the most basic TB - no ETC, etc, etc. Most I have looked at have water connections (including my '99 Rodeo); are there none with only TPS, MAP?

              Hi, Dave,
Yes, send me the Pix so I don't come home with the wrong one. Again.
What happened to the engine spec pages? I want to compare the cam spec's of the stock cam to WOT's MPG/Low End Torque cam.

Here is mine (don't mind the blue paint) sitting on a 3400 so you get a better idea of what to look for.

                  Hi, Dave,
Got a fuel rail off a '95 Grand Am 3100. Looks like yours except there is a vacuum switch (?) on the inlet side with the FIP connection on the bottom. Problem is it does not reach my injectors, they are about 1/2" short, measure 1 1/2" +/- from seat to top. Don't recall how long the GA injectors are but will check on next trip unless you have other input. It looks like the GA TB is a likely deal; no water, ETC, has a double pulley, and the bore is about 56mm. LIM has a MAP sensor.
Is there a 'map' of where and what all the sensors are on the 3500? One wierd one one the left side, lower, has a black plastic tip about 1.5 in. long, about 1.5 inches above the oil pan juncture. Also appears there are knock sensors on both sides - redundant?
Still haven't seen any cam spec's for the 3500. Under Engines/Specifications there is no listing for 3500's.
                  Thanks

the 3500's injectors won't work, i'd grab a set from a newer 3400 (2000+) and also grab the fuel pressure regulator (it's on the fuel rail) and that'll solve the fueling issue.

The knock sensors won't work with OBD1, i personally use a sensor for a 91 3.1L Cavalier and it works fine. Your MAP sensor is on top of the plenum, it's held down by a metal bracket and one bolt. If you didn't get the plug with it you can get one from a newer cavalier and some other newer GM cars. You'll have to splice it into the OBD1 harness which is very easy and this MAP sensor is better than the old ones.

the sensor just above the oil pan is the 58x crank trigger, you can't use it so i'd just leave it in there to plug the hole.

the 3500 cam is the same as the 3100/3400 cam. .437 lift with 1.6 rockers and 196 duration on a 112 LSA

a 95 3100 Grand Am would have a 52mm TB, it will work with an adapter but that's quite small for a 3500. One from a 3400 would be a bit better at 56mm.

                      Hi, Dave,
I brought home the injectors from the GA, they are 2" from seat to top, the right lenght to mate with the Cav fuel rail. The Malibu fuel rail has external sockets for the injectors, the Cav's are recessed into the rail.
Yep, I measured the GA TB, it is 52mm but it is 'clean', no ETC and a separate TPS. I didn't pay much for it and they aren't happy about exchanges. Ebay?
Question: The roller rockers don't appear to have a locknut on the studs but I can't get them to budge to remove pushrods and lifters when I get the new cam. What am I doing wrong?
You might have noticed that the water neck on the LIM from the Malibu doesn't have much deflection to get the hose pointed at the radiator inlet. The one off the GA has about 20 deg more angle towards the radiator.

Didn't get an answer on the rocker studs, how to get the rockers loose enough to remove the pushrods.
Would you know of any of the 3500's that the TB did NOT have ETC? I am going to measure the bore on the '99 Rodeo. It does not have ETC, does have TPS, and is plumbed to water, which I suppose I wouldn't have to connect. Any thoughts?
Motor mounts: Engine right side: Shold be easy - 4 10mm tapped holes in a rectangle, just forward of where my right lower mount connects. Left side, two 10mm and a 12mm on the back half. May have to move the frame mount towards center.

Never mind about the rocker studs, I figured it out. Also, the '04 Malibu 3500 has a three wire crank/cam trigger, the harness from the Beretta and GA are two wire. Should I get the two wire trigger off the GA or Beretta? Maybe you could clue me in on just what sensors I'll need ultimately.

2nd post in this thread should help...

With the interest in swapping a 3500 (LX9, non VVT) into the 1st and 2nd gen J-body, starting a thread to document what needs to be done with possible solutions and issues that early swappers have come accross seemed to be a good idea. This will be an ever evolving thread, where I will try to...

                              Hey, Dave,
Checked out the link - it answered most of my questions. Too bad there is not a thread working on converting FWD to RWD. How are you doing with the Camaro?
Check out my profile- updated. We have some things in common.
Got the 3500 plenum adaptor from WOT. It fit niether the plenum or the 56mm TB. I returned it all to Ben; he made no comment on why they didn't line up. Your thoughts?

hmm... i'll talk to him on that..

i'm working on strut tower replacement, not the fun side but needed for sure... My swap slowed down for the birth of my son but it's moving along slowly. My goal is to be done by July then work on upgrades by next year.
