hello iam new here so please bear with me ,i have 86 cav with 2.8 low miles. would like to go 3.4,and know 93-95 f body motor would be easiest but are nowhere to be found . if i use a 3400 short block and bolt my iron heads,intake,dist.etc.what kind of compression should be expected? not looking for hp. i want it to look stock just more torque.i know putting 3400 aluminum heads on in place of irons on a 3.4 f motor will give 11.0 roughly. so other way would be ridicuosly low ???? cant seem to find the answer. help!

A 3400 would probably bolt in easier then an F-body 3.4. FWD engine to FWD engine.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.

nope, it'll be like 7:1.
your best bet is to put in the whole 3400. Most 5 speed Jbodies with stock 3400's are putting down about 190 HP and about 210 TQ to the wheels, that's about 100 more HP and alot more torque than a 2.8.
your other option (although ugly) would be to put 3.4 camaro pistons in the 3400 block, with your iron heads it would be about 9.5:1. You'll pick up a little bit of torque and maybe 20 HP. pretty big waste of time in my opinion

If you haven't already, check out www.v6z24.com . More info then you'll ever need about the Jbody and engine swaps.

You aren't the only one, sadly. Got the axe 2nd week in January '08, found a job in the middle of summer, worked there for 2 months and they shut the doors. Really haven't found anything since :/ Best of luck to you in your job searching.-60v6's 2nd Jon M.
