You could also just get a membership to www.alldatadiy.com for the vehicle the engine came out of, and have access to everything that's in the service manual, only in electronic form. Will run you around $27 for a 1-yr subscription.

    +1

I have a subscription for my car/engine. Proved to be priceless data for wiring and circuit diagnosis plus the occasional circuit modification.

Back again does anyone know if the motor mounts 3.6 (rwd) 2006 CTS VVT DOHC are the same as a 4.3 90 degree v6. It looks like Grannyspeed has a cross member and motor mounts for the 4.6.

I can't say for sure, but I am almost positive that they aren't even close. Perhaps if the engine families were the same (ie, both 60º engines), then there might be a closer chance, but since they aren't, the angle of the mounts will be different, at the very least.

i heard of a place that will re-wire any harness in the USA for swap vehicles, so assuming they would be able to disable and security systems, and leave you with something you only have to hook up ignition wires to make it run. that or your factory wiring harness, but with your project i think you would be further off starting from scratch.

Howell EFI will take any GM computer contolled harness and cut it down/reloom it/label all necessary hook ups. I had them do my L67 harness. 5 years ago it was @$400 give or take depending on what they needed to add such as fuel pump relay and any broken connectors. http://howellefi.com/misc.-components.html

Ok guys I am ready to start. I just purchased a 1988 (RX7) fc convertible. The car has no engine, but everything is straight and no rust. purchase 850. I will be picking up the engine this weekend. 2007 or 6 3.6 Cadillac CTS. complete engine including all accessories, 5 speed automatic, complete wiring harness internal and external. ECM, car instruments. I believe the engine is 3.6 vvt non-DI and is rated around 255 horsepower. I think I can use grannys trans cross member but will need to fabricate engines mounts. I am told the fuel pump in the RX7 will feed this engine. (any comments) Are the ecms for this tune able and if yes will they need to be tuned, the engine has the 2 shorty cats with o2 sensors. I may opt for the cadillac instrument pod. As I make discoveries I will report here. I am not sure if VVT will allow much cam tinkering, If someone knows please feel free to comment. This is going to be a daily driver with AC. I am curious if anyone has tweaked this engine. I was shooting for the 2008 with DI but I stumbled upon my complete engine, trans, and harness (with only 45,000 miles) for 1500. I can't wait to get started. All comments welcome pro/con

    HPTuner supports 2006-2011 Cadillac CTS 6.0, 6.2

I know I speak for many, HPTuner is a good tuning platform. Unfortunately, it is an investment as well....pricey.

Ok it full on, got the motor and trans together, have complete manual on the Rx7, working on wiring digrams for the 2007 CTS 3.6 the alldata manual does not have wiring diagrams, I sent them a information request. My question this time is, Has anyone replaced drive by wire throtle body with a mechanical throtle body? and if yes were there any gotchas?

you would be better off staying with the drive by, you will need the petal assembally, this is a good thing becuase you can put yourself in ECO mode, or power mode very easly, also this is your cruise controll all wraped up into a nice neet package. here in canada, parts source has free access to michelle on demand which gives you the best wiring diagrams avalible. If you become SOL, i'll see what i can do to send you wiring diagrams. BUT, Again, you would be better off to send the harness to that place in the USA that will re-work the harness, i'd give em a call and see what they say. i know there is the feel good feeling of doing something yourself, but if you know nothing at all about fuel injection, and this harness is a head ache, shell out the cash to get it done and be plug and play.
