Aztek swap, what about versatrak?

Thinking about putting something new in an aztek for someone, but i'm worried about the versatrak holding up to the added power. I know its not much more but i've heard the versatrak can give out with 3400 as well. Is there anything you can do to strengthen the awd system? Is there any upgraded parts for it or anything you can swap and fabricate for the system to be stronger, do all the GM awd systems function the same? (Saturn vue, vibe, montana, rendevous) anything out there stronger? But still needs to fit under the aztek. The person who wants the swap has money to spend on the parts and the aztek, absolutely loves that car! although i personally cant stand the aztek i do enjoy making a frankenstein project.

I guess the question becomes, what engine are you planning on putting in? The Rendezvous came with a 3500, and maybe even a 3.6L DOHC in later years, but I'm not sure if the versatrak system was beefed up in the later years or not. Would be something to look into though.

The 3.6 was only in the fwd models. I believe the largest motor mated with versatrak was an lx9. But i dont want the system to fail.

Im looking to put an lx9 in but seeing as the system is doomed almost it seems im rethinking it. Is there anyways a volvo system can be adapter, either through serious modification or adapters?
