    crank trigger help

The front engine mount on my Fiero used the same mount as the remote 7x crank pickup mount this pushes the pickup out away from centered on the wheel, will this be a problem?

    Thanks-

    Eric

I know these lines Look crooked on paper, but I swear I've got them strait in my head.

blueprints? directions? plans? those are for people who know what they're doing!

I had the same problem with the old style aluminum mount in my 3500 Jbody swap, i ended up modifying the trigger mount but in your case maybe try a few washers between the trigger wheel and the crank snout.

Also, your trigger is way too far away from the wheel itself, you want about .040" or so once you get it all lined up. There should be some play in the mounting holes to move it closer to the wheel.

I don't like the idea of washers, because the wheels is keyed to the crank, a washer wouldn't let it stay lined up correct. I may just cut the bracket and weld it to the front motor mount.

I thought so, the sensor has a thick plastic ring on it I was going to try to trim down to gain the proper clearance, there isn't enough play in the bolts on mine to slide it.

That's good to know, but I'm not sure the new non adjustable bracket design will allow a tolerance adjustment that close. I'll find out soon enough, but I'm installing the bracket and trigger wheel after I drop the engine into the bay for better frame clearance during the install.

I see the problem. The first batch of trigger mounts were not designed to be used with an engine mount on the end of the block. The vast majority of trigger kits are used in cars that don't have the end mount and we were not planning to support the others. After several requests, we changed the design and fixtures to fit either application. If you send the mount back, I will send you the revised version. I sent a PM with the new shipping address.

Can you please also confirm the .040 gap adjustment requirement between the trigger wheel and sensor? What is the maximum allowed gap tolerance for the trigger to still function correctly?

    Thanks.....!
