1982 Camaro 2.8L Questions
Okay folks! I've got some questions for the carb gurus here.
I've got a 1982 Camaro with the 2.8L V6. I'm in the process of doing a full restomod, including swapping out my TH200C for a T-5 manual transmission.
The questions I have are in regards to my carb and emissions controls. This car is emissions exempt due to the age. In addition, the age means that every component is about 30 years old.
Would there be a benefit to me putting on a standard 2SE carb off of an early 80's S10 and removing all the emissions controls such as air pump, egr, charcoal canister, etc?
One thing I see is I would not be relying on a 30 year old computer and wouldn't have to keep tinkering with 30 year old sensors and the like to keep it running. I am also aware that I would need the distributor off the same truck as well.

Upgrades include: 3.4L V6 (headers, 1.6 rockers, hot cam), T-5 Manual Transmission, 1986 Z-28 Anti-Sway Bars, 1987 IROC-Z Wonder Bar.

Well if he is doing a resto then he may not be interested. Yes you can add the non electrical 2SE carb to your car. You just need to use the matching distributor.
1993 EXT. CAB, 3.4L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. Sonoma
1990 4Door, 3.2L V6 TBI, 5spd manual. 4X4. Trooper

Well, I've decided against it. I'm going to keep the E2SE and CCC in place, but I am removing the smog pump and tubing (the A.I.R. manifold leaks). As to why I'm sticking with the 1982 2.8L V6 - It's completely rebuilt; pistons, rings, cam, heads redone, new crank, all new seals, etc.

I'm a newbie and am in about the same spot. Found a cheap rebuilt 2.8 and want to go non computer distributor and a 4bbl holley.. Where do I find a non computer dist?? What years/models do I look for?? I would also be interested in your t200C 3 speed if you still have it.. I'm in watkins glen NY.. Thx will

2.8chevetteguy - I think you can get them off any 1982-1984 S10 or S15 with the 2.8L V6. I will also not be needing the TH200c, I'm definitely going for the T-5 swap. If you'd like to buy it, it's all yours!
And as to my above posts - I decided to use the standard 2SE carburetor and distributor w/o computer control. I ended up changing to a 3.4L V6 with headers, 1.6 rockers, and a hot cam. As much as I'd rather have the computer, it's just too much of a hassle.

T200 trans
As long as the trans shifts well and isnt burnt im interested! my nephew just so happened to have pulled a 2.8 5 speed combo out of his 85 bird to go v8 4 speed... interested in the 5 speed trans?

2.8chevetteguy - I have no idea if the transmission works well or not, the car has been sitting since 1995. As for the 5-speed, I already have a T-5 out of a 1995 Firebird. Anyway, I can sell you the TH200c for pretty cheap as I have no use for it.
