    95 3.4 Camaro interference motor?

    Hi everybody,
This is my first post. I broke the timing chain in my car the other day and was wondering if this motor is a bender (interference motor)? I searched and it seems as if the aluminum headed motors are but i didnt see anything about iron headed ones?

    Hey,
Thanks for your reply. I guess im one of the lucky ones then. It did break at a relatively low rpm though. Got it all back together and all seems well.

Are you sure iron heads are interference, Dave?

Should be, If you have one laying around measure .47" ( lift + HG thickness) from the lowest point of either valve. If that ends up below the surface of the head then there is a chance that the piston will kiss it. All i have are aluminum heads, and they are for sure.

Cool, i've been through Geneseo a few times over the years. I'm in Davenport, kinda by the east village.

With stock parts, it's definitely NOT and interference motor.

The 2.8 had flat top pistons, the 3.4 has an 8cc dish in them. If the valves don't hit on a 2.8, then there is more clearance for the 3.4
