That's exactly what I was told by the mechanic. He says he may be able to machine a part from a Turbo 400 to work, if not, then go with a new part.
So far going with the Raybestos blues, Alto steels, strengthen the torque convertor. He's done performance builds on the bigger GM trannies, but just standard rebuilds on the 4T45Es before this.
I have the disadvantage of knowing almost nothing about them.

It may not be due to the strength of the part though, you noted you ran the fluid low, that's just asking for something to fail unfortunately.
I have the option to upgrade to the 4t65e ratchet sprags, I just haven't purchased a JY 4t65e to test this yet.
