Thread: VSS signal output

    VSS signal output

For my Monza swap, in order to run OBD1 on a 7730 I need to purchase a cable driven VSS and I want to make sure I get the right one.
I think based on research that I need one that puts out 4 pulses per revolution. Can anyone confirm or deny that?
    Thanks
    Roy

what trans are you going to use?

You can change the settings in the tune to work with most VSS frequencies. The most common ones are 4000 pulses per mile and 24000 pulses per mile.

    Dave,
I am using a 700R4. I did not know you could change the pulse rate in the tune. More research required.

with a 700R4 you can do what i did, a VSS for a 1991 Caprice police interceptor has both the cable output and the correct electronic signal for the '7730. It's an easy swap and works perfect. It's 4000 PPM.

It was like $50 at Autozone.

Dave thats perfect. For future reference for anyone else it looks like the option code that included that dual output sensor was D8B. I got one on wholesaler closeout at Rock Auto for $27.
    Thanks
