I forgot how to datalog!

It's been like a year since my last datalog so I need help remembering lol


setup:

using tuner pro rt version 4.14

Windows 7




Now, i'm pretty sure my com port is # 2. Don't ask me how I know that but i'm almost 100% positive that i have that sorted out. I went out to datalog today and couldn't get it to connect. I kept getting the error message "could not initialize port"

I have 2 questions.

When i hit f4 to go to the datalog options menu I'm not entirely sure what to do in the "select definition file" menu. I can't remember if it's supposed to be an .xdf or .ads

If it's .ads then that would explain a lot since I don't have any to choose from on my computer and if it's .xdf I simply selected the A1 xdf that I have (robert's version from a long time ago)


The other thing I'm not sure on is the usb drivers. I went to moates and tried to install the "latest" version for windows 7 but it directed me to some other page and I couldn't find it anywhere. I simply used an older driver that I had already but as you can see I could not get it to connect.


Plz help me remember how to do this. I need to get some cold start logs so I can get that fixed and also figure out which o2 sensor is being used so I can start my heated o2 project as well.

ALDL defintions for TP V4 are .ADS files.

i may have a recently finished one.

USB drivers: like a 99% chance that these are the ones you need.

I opened the 64 bit for windows and there wasn't an executable so I don't know how to get the drivers to install.

Can you send me an .ads file that will work for my setup?

so I got the .ads rockin and the drivers installed and I'm still getting a "could not initialize port" error when I go to connect to ecm.

Is it time to find out if I have the wrong com port #?


What is the procedure for Windows 7?

If im not mistaken you still need microsoft MDAC ( Data aquisition) and net frame work 1.1 because windows 7 doesnt have it installed Somebody please correct me if im wrong ! and its not part of net framework 3.5 Try it it cant hurt anything you can always delete the installs and start over

i never needed anything like that....

Max, start button, right-click on computer, then you should be able to get to the device manager. if the cable is plugged in, then it should show up in the "ports" section.

mind you, i'm replicating this on Vista, i don't remember it being much different for 7.
