Removing the Brake/Clutch pedal assemby
What a royal PITA!!!
I am stuck and need advise on how to continue....This is where I am at.
CAB
- Steering column removed
- Various wires and boxes removed
- Brake pedal disconnected from Vac Booster through firewall
- Various trim pieces removed
- Dash Cluster removed
ENGINE BAY
- Brake Master removed
- Vac Booster removed
- 4 large nuts holding the pedal assembly removed
The pedal assembly is free from connections and only needs unbolted (somehow). I really tore down into the cab so far but feel I need to do more. BUT I don't want to remove more if I am going down the wrong path.
Am I missing something or do I need to take the entire dash down? I must remove the pedal assembly.
It is part of the 5-Speed swap and there are no visible bosses for the clutch that I can see/feel.
The Haynes Manual doesn't seem to cover this stuff.

what vehicle? i can probably pull the correct procedure via ALLDATA. and yes, Haynes is FTL.
1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E,
OBD1 Conversion...for now, future plans include a 3900, T04E-46 (Knock-Off) turbo (For the 3100, ~T61 for the 3900), and a F40.
Latest nAst1 files here!
Need a wiring diagram for any GM car or truck from 82-06(and 07-08 cars)?
PM me!

1996 Grand Prix SE, thanks.
Haynes, it's alright for a brief run down before the project. But that's about it, and bolt specs.

seeing it's for removal in a 96, you're just looking for the brake pedal stuff?

Correct, but I also need to know how to remove the cage the brake pedal mounts too. Reinstalling the clutch/brake assembly from the 90 TGP will be on my own.
I guess my title is misleading, lol

That really helps a LOT but it doesn't show how to remove the Brake Pedal Bracket.
But now I am not sure if I need to because your links posted shows a boss to mount a clutch pedal. I knew they were there up to 1993 but not sure for 96.
Yet still though, I don't know how to tear down the dash to get to the Brake Pedal Bracket. With everything I removed so far I still can't get up there to effectively bolt up the clutch. (or remove the bracket and install the 1990 TGP bracket with brake and clutch already bolted up.

i actually had to go up to a 97 cutlass supreme, for some reason none of the 1st gen W-bodies from 94-96 had ANY info whatsoever...

Ouch, that sucks, lol. This is the last PITA step for the manual swap, the clutch pedal. I got the shifter assembly installed nice and I modded the shift boot to mount properly in the automatic shifters shell/shadow. The assembly is lined up just right and I had to drill out to attach with 4 strong bolts. So the shifter is done and ready to go.
I wonder if I can reach the clutch boss from the engine bay? Make myself a small access door, lol. After all, it's right there on the other side of the firewall.
