Best 3400 UIM for boost
So which UIM is preferred or boost? Those I've asked haven't noticed a difference from a ported 3400 to a 3500 UIM on N/A. Which one flows better, if either with forced induction?
So my options are gasket matched 3500 UIM with 65mm TB Or 3400 UIM ported to match 65mm TB and 3500 lower. Will be using 3400 heads/LIM until I can get some ported 3500 heads/LIM.

Good question. I was in the same boat as you and went with the 3500 upper and a 65mm TB.
The 3500 upper has Shorter runners; which usually means more top end power. (Our V6's already make gobs of bottom end, so why not give some up, to gain up top).
That was my reasoning behind choosing the 3500 upper.

3400 is better, but you'll lose the awesome looks of the lx9.

True.. Not sure if I want to lose that look... But the cool thing about the 3400 UIM it's actually a wide port 3100, so it'll look even cooler than the lx9!
Thanks for the info.

I like the look of the 3400 Intake best. Honestly under boost its not going to make much of a difference between the 3400 and 3500 intakes. NA now that might be a different story. I realize every bit of flow you can get the better but when boosted, it flows just fine. (under the impression the 3500 Intake is better flowing....)

OK, I will play your game.... lol
As long as you have the large port 3X00 intake then i wouldnt bother swaping for anything else. You can see the difference here:

Yeah, that pretty much is what I meant. Large port 3100, or 3400 is better for boost over a 3500. NA then grab a 3500 upper (from what I was told, again, IIRC- but we all seem to agree).

I don't think I'd have gained much more going with a big port upper versus my lx9's. Until we see real result from someone trying both, I think this speculation is just that, speculation. We all knows what happens when crude oil is speculated, it'll go up or down as a result. Lets not use that same false of judgment with an intake manifold!
