1992 3400 swapped Lumina
I thought I would share my times here for my 3400 swapped Lumina!
went on Sunday to try to better my times on the car, last time out was a 16.57@ 85.6mph in 25*c+ temps.
weather was perfect on sunday 8*c and mostly sunny! first pass out was a 15.95@ 88.53mph then backed it up with a 15.99@ 88.67mph
I then swapped out the 215/70r15 tires for some 195/70r14 snow tires to help out my crap FDR. That got me a 15.77@ 89.99mph.
let the car cool for 45mins with a bag of ice on the intake:
r/t...... .115
60'..... 2.320
330.... 6.634
1/8.... 10.167
mph... 70.61
1000.. 13.169
1/4.... 15.674
mph... 92.05
I backed that up with a 15.73@ 91.83mph!
It is a stock 290,000km 3400 from a 98 Montana van. Only mods are a little port work on the rear exhaust manifold, 2.5" front pipe, stock 2" exhaust from the cat to the flowmaster, stock 3.1 mpfi ecm with 97 3100 injectors!(3400 injectors ran too rich with the stock ecm)
Now I need to tune it and get the 1/8th mile times to drop!
1999 Olds Alero 2.4 to 3500 swap (running). totaled by a honda

1992 lumina 4 door 3500 3spd auto 15.020 @93.5 mph
1984 Cavalier type 10 hatch 3100 5spd!!!
14.96@91.47 in the 1/4
9.63@74.36 in the 1/8th
14.30 on slicks! scrapped due to rust!

your 60 foot are good for a car that size. the MPH is good to get you to low 15 maybe high 14..

I think the vans had a poorly-designed intake when compared to other 3400s. Isn't there a ridge or something right inside the throttle opening that restricts intake flow quite a bit? I bet putting a different intake manifold on would help a bit.

it's actually just the pre-2000 3400 upper, yes it had a bump inside the neck, to make room for the injector harness. i don't think it's as big of a deal as it's made out to be, at least on a relatively stock engine.
if you want better times try a bigger exhaust. 2" is choking that engine. also, if you can, get the 3400 injectors back in there and get a tune from someone, you'll get a bunch of power there.

Cammed 3400 --> 224whp 210wtq
Cammed 3500 --> ???

Awesome Scott.
That's a huge drop in time!

A 00+ plenum will be going on soon with a 65mm TB! It will most likely be getting heads, cam, intakes, headers, injectors+ a tune, and the exhaust will be finshed from the cat back. The mounts need to be done as well because it killed oem style dog bones in about 3 months! I want to put this boat deep in to the 14's in 2011!
The 2.5" DP made a big difference on its own!

Thanks, Fireball!
