Good/Bad news for DR TC sets

As I told Eric, the problem with making the DR sets is the huge amount of outside costs to build them. Once built, they are slow sellers and it's tough to have that much investment just sitting on the shelf not knowing when it will sell. In an effort to spark interest and hopefully build larger quantities in the future, I priced the first batch so low that we only covered material, outside costs and operator pay. Even with the low price, it still took close to three years for them to sell. When the economy was good it was easier to tie up some cash and labor but things have changed, material and subcontracting costs continue to go up and I'm really not in a position to do the same as last time.

An issue for doing a small group run is pricing. Like any other product as volume goes down, the price goes up and only making a group of ten will increase the price even more. I believe pricing will be in the $300~350 range and if there seems to be enough interest in a group buy, I will work on getting an accurate price to see if we can come up with a way to get another batch going. If we can't get at least ten people to pre-order, I don't think we can make it happen.

CNCguy, Sent you a PM about this timing set... I have a feeling I do not have the proper crank gear to install this since it appears to me to simply be the 3.1 double roller gear which when turned around to set the chain back now the key ways are not cut in the right spot to time the engine.

Maybe I'm just looking at it wrong, but the smooth side of the gear without the step on it, does not have any timing marks at all, they are all on the other side which I'm assuming is facing the block due to the photos above, placed the other way the chain wouldn't hit the crank so I know it should be smooth side out.

I'd be interested in a double roller timing chain if demand sees fit to start production.
