    Nitrous

I know what your thinking,"Are you sure i can put nitrous on my car?? Ive never seen it done on a family car!". The answer is yes.

The only thing you have to worry about is how much to put. In the case of the 60º V-6, the pistons are weak from the factory and will only safely support about a 50hp increase. Anything over that, and you should consider upgrading to aftermarket Hyperutectic or Forged Pistons. After that, you can safely go with whatever your transmission will hold. Probably up to 120hp increase.

This is the kit that you would use, an EFI kit. This kit uses the vehicles existing fuel system to deliver the extra fuel needed. This system uses one injection nozzle screwed up through the airhose in front of the throttle body. It also uses a microswitch that only kicks in the juice at full throttle so that the computer uses it in an open-loop mode so that you get trouble free horsepower.

Other Nitrous systems are availible, from NOS, Nitrousworks, Compucar, and a few others. Check out the links page to see which companies have websites.

Holy cow this is an old article. 1999 i bet.

No, nitrous won't blow your motor if you tune it proper and have enough fuel for the amount of nitrous you inject.

THis was written about the 3.1 MPFI based on GPXSS' experience I believe. Either way...old. Maybe someone wants to rewrite this? Site doesn't update itself.

seems like it really wouldn't need updating other than possibly the ZEX part number.

i think the "only 50HP safely" is a bit conservative, but i don't have a lot of experience with nitrous...
    1995 Monte Carlo LS 3100, 4T60E, OBD1 Conversion...for now, future plans include a 3900, T04E-46 (Knock-Off) turbo (For the 3100, ~T61 for the 3900), and a F40.

k i know this thread is old and probably forgotten but the hp gains from nitrous are an aproxament number gain threw spaecific formulas and will change from motor to motor and car to car i use to use a 1oohp wet system at the school every three weeks with my students who qaulified for it we used it on chevy 350 with after market heads and cam and all the typical bolt on crap and we would only see about 60hp gain sometimes more sometimes less on the chassi dyno but for a chemical supercharger that stuff is fun hp on a buttom lol as long as you can get the timing to retard at the right time and keep the afr from going lean should be good to 100 shot on momentary bursts like coming off line or when that stupid honda you underestamated gets to close also good idea to keep on eye on exhaust temp

100 shot will be just fine as a wet is the safest way to go just member to readjust and retard timing about 4-6 degrees first start slow like at 35 to 50 hp shoot then work ur way up lisnten for detnation. also if you want to get a little more trick you can inject a water methanol mix and the n2o loves it. it cools the temps in the chamber and also buffers clynider pressure spikes theres alot of info out their on it and you can even make ur own kit feairly easy thats what my next plans are just make sure you dont inject more then 10% of total fuel consumption at wot
