LY7 Supercharged

just like to show off my pride and joy.

its a Holden Commodore SV6 with the Ly7 3.6 engine and 5L40E transmission.

from stock i have added a full exhaust system, and a Raptor Supercharged intercooled system.

292rwhp and 781rw ft/lb (2nd gear) safe tuned on 8psi,
going to be running 9.5psi soon (expecting 320rwhp)

does anyone know of any 5L40E transmission modifications? tuning or machanical mods?

much help appreciated

Are you SURE you have those numbers correct?

The only 5L40E that I know of is at my old work (If it really was a 5l40e) and it was just for experimentation. Might be a few months before something more aggressive comes out for that trans.

the 1060.4 NM is 781.8 FT lbs... there are two pulls there. And the 213KW is around 288 hp...

Thats alot of torque for a tranny to be taking...

Conversion

1hp = 0.7456999 kw
1ft lb = 1.35582 nm

The 3.6 L (3564 cc) LY7 version was introduced in the 2004 Cadillac CTS sedan. It has a 10.2:1 compression ratio and produces 255 hp (190 kW) at 6200 rpm and 252 lb·ft (342 N·m) at 3100 rpm. The bore is 3.70 in (94.0 mm) and the stroke is 3.37 in (85.6 mm). In some applications, including the Buick LaCrosse and Holden Commodore, the LY7 has an output of 235 to 262 hp (175 to 195 kW) and 225 to 251 ft·lbf (305 to 340 N·m) depending on the vehicle induction and exhaust system designs. Selected models also include variable intake. The engine weighs 370 lb (170 kg) as installed.
This engine is produced in North America and Australia.
On the Lambda crossover SUVs (Saturn Outlook, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave) it produces 275 hp (205 kW) and 251 lb·ft (340 N·m). The Holden Alloytec version has been modified to meet Euro III emissions standards and has an output of 262 hp (195 kW) and 251 ft-lbf (340 N-m). A 235 hp (175 kW) version able to run on autogas (LPG) has also been produced by Holden in Australia.

What is the gear ratio in 2nd, and what is your FDR? Being a 5spd you might need to dyno in a different gear like 3rd or 4th something to get 1:1 ratio....

That would explain the crazy torque #'s...

Also, you should be making more HP than that... How is the engine tuned?

2nd gear is 2.21 ratio, 3rd is 1.60, final drive is 3.46.

this is the most modded alloytec in australia atm (that anyone knows about)
- there is whispers of turbo and TT setups but cant find any, the workshops dont even say anything????

the 217rwkw = roughly 288rwhp this is on 8psi only, there is another raptor supercharged engine running 9.1psi and has 232rwkw = roughly 311rwhp.

im really hoping someone knows more about the 5l40 gearbox
