It can be done, but you MUST use mechanical roller (solid roller). The oiling system of the genI/II blocks will not allow use of an hydraulic roller lifter.

It is my understanding that the Gen 1 uses the same flat tappet lifters as the SBC.
Are the lifter bores spaced the same as to use the SBC solid rollers lifters???

turboz24 has a solid roller with the iron heads. for hydraulic , it's something like SBC for one side and buick 3.8 for the other due to the lifter oiling. if you talk to crower, that's who did his cam, maybe they can help you, or even comp cams.

Humm, I wounder how I managed to get them in there, granted I only have about 2000 miles on it and about 30 runs in the 13's but if they didn't work I think I would have been found on the road dead by now.
I guess what I am saying is please don't post something unless your sure.
Your obviously wrong.
Thanks

So you are using 3400 roller lifters in a 3.1 block? How did you get the plastic tray in there to keep the lifters lined up? Also, I haven't compared the flat tappet to the roller but I would like to see the oiling hole differences if you have any pictures.

OHHH so you are using roller lifters already. i thought you just wanted to know if someone knows how to set one up on a 2.8 iron head. like you asked. i don't post until i know, and i'm not wrong. you should do more research before you tell someone their wrong when you asked in the first palce!
