Looking for 2000 Monte engine mods (3.4l)

Hello everyone,

first off i will apologize if something like this has been posted before... i only have time to come read these type of these when im at work (i know great isnt it?)

Ok so i have a 2000 Monte Carlo LS with a 3.4l engine and I've been looking for just about anything i can do to the engine to get more out of... i do plan on rebuilding the engine sometime in the spring (pick up a junker and just slowly go at it) for something to do... So when i say anything, i mean anything as i will have it completly taken apart...

Thanks!

Anything and everything you could possibly want. Really just depends on how much you want to spend. What is your background when it comes to working on engines? Would hate to lead you into a direction that you are not capable of or don't want to spend the money on.

And sorry for the late reply. Many people don't check the off topic area much, so I have moved this thread to the pushrod performance area.

Well thanks, i appreciate that!..

Ok well ive rebuilt a Lebaron... went from bone stock 2.5l to fully loaded 2.2 intercooled turbo with a 91 Daytona VNT tranny (so auto to manual)... I think id be able to tackle just about anything mechanical... i have a friend that has little bitch hands if need a pair lol...

As far as money goes well a couple grand... about 2200-2400 to rebuild the engine... im just really wondering if theres anything that i could upgrade in the process of rebuilding her... performance internal parts? and if its not worth it then ill just hunt down a wrecked SS and turbocharge the 3.8

then turbo charge the 3400 you probley could get the same power as a 3800 at a lower boost because the head flow is better on the 3400

There is only 1 turbo kit for the LA1 3400 motor that I know of and I don't even know the name of it.

You could S/C the 3400 as well. There is two s/c kits for it, a Vortec and an Eaton, but the Eaton is way better and more reliable.

Pretty much a custom build with all the piping

yeah mostly everything about the 60*V6 is custom but if you source the right parts you can build a good set up

Is there any differences between the 3400 in an Alero and the one in Monte? found a turbo and s/c kit for the alero but nothing for the monte... which makes me wonder why not for the monte as well?
