The P4 style GM ECMs (7730, 7727, etc) fire all injectors at the same time. In many of these ECMs (7730, 7727) there is only a single injector driver, 7749 has two, but this is used to spread the load of low impedance injectors over more components (injector drivers) to keep them cooler.

I believe the MS is capable of true bank to bank fire, and would split the cylinders up in 135 on one driver a 246 on the other. I would set it up this way because of the firing order being 1-2-3-4-5-6 on these engines, which means the firing pattern steps back and forth from bank to bank.

I am considering using a COP. How many teeth are on the crank wheel? Does anyone know off hand?

OEM 660 reluctor wheel?

That would be 6+1.

6 even spaced at 60* intervals, and one that is 10* after TDC #1.

Thanks man. I am not sure if I wanna use a COP from a Saturn, or the coil pack from a Catera, which is the same thing but in one unit.

Do the Saturn COP use a built in igniter? I'm trying to find some COPs that don't.

It uses an ignition cassette. it would only fit the 3.0 VUE/L Series motors.
As I understand it you just use 3 IGBT's on the MS board to fire them.
The Catera is the same thing. It batch fires also. The COP in the Saturn is basically a 3 coil set up. Each plug may have its own coil but 2 fire at once.
The Catera is a single large coil pack doing the same thing.
4 wires total. 1 power and 3 ground signals from the MS. The COP is identical....just that it splits the signal before the coils.
I really wish I could find an ignition module with a 60-2 firing set-up. something stand alone rather than wiring into the MS.
BTW...the reason so many things for me, is I am working on a few projects in my mind still.
