Digital Odometer

Question: If I pull a digital dash and supply power and ground to it, scratch that, if i supply power to the insturment circuit on a OBD2 car throught the fuse box, will it A) power it enough to light up and tell me its mileage?
Or is there another way? I need to check mileage in a junk yard for pulling good engines, I got no keys to most cars, none have batteries either, I was going to take my jump box. Ideas?

How to make High performance Emissions:
A "true" High flow converter, straight pipe.
Low/No flow EGR valve, block off plate.
Carbon canister and purge valve mod, place in large 30 Gallon can, cover, and place curbside, the city will do the rest.
PCV valve and vent tube, reroute to exhaust to dump where it belongs, on the ground. Or add breathers and let it all free.
