It looks like it could possibly work by itself with just the pedal attached? It might ignore not having the brake light signal and the VSS signal. But as far as the serial connection...that's pretty iffy. But just the pedal communication sounds like a good "limp-home" to me...and we know how GM likes their limp-homes.

Has anyone ever just tried putting power to the module, and hooking up a pedal?

You may want to contact the folks at gmtuners.com they put in a ls4 into a fiero and kept the stock ecm/DBW etc setup. Maybe they know if it can work or not stand alone.

Well I do have a pedal....except it's from a LS1 vette. I put an ohm meter on the pins on the pedal(there are 9 of them) and it seems to have 3 position sensor in it rather than the two that are shown in the 3500 diagram y'all got me.

Does anyone have a 3500 car that they could ohm out the pins on the pedal connector?

Well I played with it a little last night. If I apply power to it the throttle body closes all the way(when not powered it is open slightly). I played around a little with hooking it up to the vette pedal but nothing is happening so far.
Also when power is applied, 5v is put out on those two 5v reference lines as expected to power the position sensors in the pedal.

If it doesn't work the only other thing I can think of is that there's some kind of enable signal that comes in on those serial lines to make it work...

I'm also wondering if throttle responce is slowed if it's not detecting a speedo signal telling it that the car is moving...

Anyone with a stock 3500 car have any experience with bliping the throttle in park?

You can open it up and make it close all the way when powered off BTW.

Unless there is a circuit board in the TB that I missed or one in the pedal assembly there shouldn't be any regulation at all when you do a direct connect between the two parts. Chances are you may have to ground a few of the outputs together on the TB terminal to the PCM where the final throttle output is determined regardless of pedal position and returned to the TB.

In other words, the PCM is almost certainly a second source of variable resistance that has to be bypassed and more likely than not it is a series circuit, but then you should be able to determine that by the wiring diagram.

There must be come circuitry sealed into the plastic housing on the throttle body. There are a lot more brains in there than just wires coming into it...
The TPS is also molded into that housing.

I opened the TPS molding and there is nothing in there except a dual contact slide over a variable resistance patch. It's been a while since I looked at it so who knows. I didn't see anything else suggesting more circuitry. I figure 4 wires for the slide and two wires for the motor, double that add pairs and that should account for about ten terminals.

Did you break into the part where the connector comes in? I'm just thinking there's got to me more if 13 wires come in and there are only 2 going to the motor and there is just that TPS sensor in there. There has to be something to communicate with those serial lines coming from the computer.
