Im acquiring a 95 Buick Riviera its got a 3800 Series 2 in it N/A.

Im thinking of dropping in a super charged motor into it.

Are the transmissions different?

You would probably find an answer on a 90* site related to those cars. I don't even think the Riviera even got a 60*, so most likely you might not get an answer here.

Google FTW.

You could be right that Chevy only makes 60* V6's. The 3800 was designed by Buick. It's a 6 cyl version of one of their old V8's so it retained the 90 degree design.

Your car is listed as having a 4T60-E transmission. Some supercharged 3800's (L67) were used with the 4T60-E (likely a heavy duty variant) on C, G and H-body cars in 95-96.

Chevrolet's V6s are the 60 degree 2.8, 3.1, 3.4, 3.5, 3.9. And the 90 degree 4.3 based off the Chevy small block no direct relation to the 60 degree. The 3.0, 3.8, 3300, 3800 are a Buick designed engine no relation either.

Even though this is the 60 Degree site and your engine and optioning a different set, I will attempt to to answer your question by saying yes. I do belive they are different. You should have the 4T65-E HD on an SC 3800. With that said you will need to acquire details at a 3800 related forum.

Thanks for that info.

I know there are people out there in the know or have a parts exchange book.

Im just going to keep it as it was and get a direct replacement for it.
