Parts Interchange.

Are the internals from a 4t60-e able to be put in a 4t60? Are the converters interchangeable?

Most things are. Some things that are proprietary with the 4T60-E....Valvebody, Soleniods, Channel Plate, Reaction Sun Drum, 2-1 Band and Servo, Forward Roller Clutch with Forward Band and Servo, Output Shaft, Driver Side Intermediate shaft, Accumulators, and the speed sensor. That is about all I can think of. The same could be said about the 4T65-E but I would add the Case, Soleniods, and Sensors.

As far as converters go I wouldn't go over '93 without verifying it. The W body converter is pretty well matched. I think a Quad 4 converter can be used for a higher stall.

The reason I ask is I picked up a 4t60-e for free with a 3.73 gear, 3000 rpm stall and a shift kit of some nature. I want to swap all of this into my 4t60 if possible. Is the diff the same? I will find out the year of the tranny for the stall.

I'd keep the 60-e and set up a paddle shifter or switches to change gears. You just need to change out your passenger CV axle. Lock up works the same. Vacume modulated also.

But you wanto use the 60-e differential, you'll need its ring gear/parking paw assymbly and have the shaft on the assym cut down to the 60 size and install a new bearing in there.

The 65e is the taller one 440-4t60 on right.

IF YOUR 4t60 differential is cast number 8661100 and has the 3.33 gear, I won't bother changing to the 60e differential.
The Torque converters interchange. So do the chain and gear sprokets. While your at it, swap out the input and 3rd gear sprag and roller clutch out of your 4t60 for the better 60-e sprags.

good luck.
