getrag 282. options?
well my 3rd gear syncro went out again the other day.. MAYBE 10k on the tranny and thats with easy shifting! its grinds no matter what i do expect for the good ol trucker trick lol.
options..
*replace the syncro with an aftermarket part (metal i could get cyro treated?)
*replace the syncro with a GM part (carbon fiber?)
-hm282 (gotta swap bellhousings)
1st gear is too low IMO and i would not like that.. could i swap 1st from a getrag on? does that tranny have a better histroy for the syncros? could i use my EP lsd/diff?
-6spd... dont like 1st gear.. i dont wanna fab anything lol
is there any more trannys out there that could work? i dont wanna tear my tranny out again

the quad 4 HM282 has the same 1st (aside from 1 year iirc) that your 282 has.. 3.50:1 but with the 3.94 diff it's a little shorter overall.
I used to have the grinding 3rd issue but it went away by itself.. lol
I'd say just find another 282, either a stock V6 one or an 89 Quad 4 so you get the better 4th while keeping the stock FDR and stock 5th.

they made an auto 6spd?
i do have a 90 quad tranny, its been in the rain for a few years tho lol. i do kinda like the taller 5th gear i have
chances are with another getrag it would have the 3rd gear problem and i would have to open mine up anyways to get the lsd out
