L82 (3100) : General Information


History

  • The L82 (vin code M) is the GENERATION 3 3100 SFI (Sequential Fuel Injection V6) that was offered in the GM linup starting in 1993. The 1993 was the only year to get the 3100 SFI in the Cutlass Supreme only. Starting in 1994, the 3100 L82 totally replaced the 3.1 MPFI (Multi-Port Fuel Injected) in the complete GM lineup with the exception of the CHEVROLET. The Chevrolet Lumina retained the 3.1 MPFI in 1994, and received the 3100 SFI in 1995. The Chevrolet Cavalier retained the 3.1 MPFI in 1994 as well, and switched to 4-cylinders exclusively in 1995.
  • The 1993-1995 3100 SFI featured the stamped steel rockers in a 1.6:1 ratio.
  • The 1996+ 3100 SFI featured the roller fulcrum rocker also in 1.6:1 ratio.
  • Starting mid year in 1999, the gen 3 3100 SFI received an update to the second version LG8 3100 VIN J
  • The VIN M 3100 SFI featured 160 HP @ 5200 RPM and 185 Tq (lb-ft) @ 4000 RPM
