  • Tell me what you want

It's been awhile since I posted any news, so figured it was about time. Not much has been going on with the site, besides the temporary downtime, and subsequent software upgrade. I also decided to get rid of some of the bloat and get the site back to where it used to be. A fast site full of information. And will that said, how about we get some more information going?!? It seems that my ongoing rants, raves, and pleas for users to add content is for the most part failing yet again. So I'm going to try going about this a different way...

I want you, the users of the site, to tell me what you want. The topic with the most interest is what I will work on. I'll do all the research, and put together the article, full of pictures, graphs, or whatever it takes to fulfill the the article. Depending on how it goes, maybe I can do one a month. In a few years, perhaps will have some decent content back up on the site.

I would like to thank robertisaar, Tbay99Venture, geldartb, and 60dgrzbelow0 for their article contributions. Didn't want you guys to think I was ignoring your contributions.

hmm..... figure out how to get the 3900 VVT and VI functioning the way the factory intended without the CAN PCM?

i may have some pics to add to the EGR cleaning write-up, seems wifey's car threw the code again....

don't suppose you want to make another wiki-like section?

What do you think the CMS is? The only difference is that not everyone can directly add to a specific article. Not that it actually ever happened when the wiki was up and running anyway...

Email any pics you find useful to : bszopi at 60degreev6 dot com.

Guess that means no one wants to see any write-ups done on anything... That's pretty lame.

Maybe I should do the research on the injectors, since it was such a big deal on Bnet...

robert: that's a start? ROFL! Just kidding... I'd see what I can dig up. It will definitely be a work in progress that I will most likely publish with a bunch of incorrect info, and rely on you guys to correct me in the replies. I will then update the article, and delete the comments until we have a completed article.

brandon: let me know if you need any help setting up the article.

sure no problem. ill see what i can dig up on the 4t4x.

as far as the fuel injector thing goes. something like the pics that were posted in the other thread is a good idea, but most of those places test them at 43.5psi so the injectors that run at 55psi will show lower in the pic unless someone takes the time to edit the correct info into the pic.

OBD1 and 2 tuning articles. Ill probably work on OBD2 with HPTuners since I am learning that setup and its easier to write an article when you are learning something.

i had a decent start on that when i was explaining the A1 mask to w-body.com...

there is some usefull information i can pull from posts on the dhp forum if you want me to. there are a few recent topics that go into good detail on some aspects of tuning. obviously i'll credit the poster but there is some good info

you can still do the main article and add the stuff i find in if you want.

I know we had a good start on OBD1 tuning around here somewhere. I can do some looking and see if I can't create something that can be added to later.

I want six winning lottery numbers. If you can only do five for now, I'll accept the sixth later.

I think I'd just like a good reference guide. for like parts interchanges between motors and aftermarket parts. just really simple stuff. I drive my v6 every day so I can't afford to take it out of service to try out if this part fits or whatever. whenever this 3100 decides to die on me I'm thinking of getting a 3400 if they interchange but I don't even know for sure if I can do that so a quick reference guide for even simple stuff like that can really help me. I don't want to buy a 3400, pull out my 3100, and figure out i can't just drop the new motor in.

Hmm, interesting. That might be a challenge, as there is just so much that can interchange between these engines.

an article on what DOESN'T interchange would be a lot faster.

Yup, lets just take the differences and go from there. That seems easier. The family tree would be a good starting point, and Attachment 5027.

I was and may still use this for WOT-Tech but I am obviously too busy to change the numbers and make a new index for the numbers. That could be useful to this site, and one made for the other motors as well.

It would take A LOT of work, but taking that diagram, and making each number a link to the item description would be awesome. And at that point, have comparisions between engines for the various parts. So basically, each item would have to have a corresponding page to go along with it. But first, the image needs to be edited so there are no repeat numbers (but keep a spreadsheet to compare old numbers to new), and built the information from that.

Ok, so I am working on the exploded diagram right now. I have all of the original exploded views for reference, I have all of the old numbers erased, and I have started to get the new numbers put in. I am starting a business trip as I type this, but it is only for a seminar, so I have plenty of time to mess with this. My goal, for right now, is to get the image done, as well as the image map (click on a number to send you to a description page). For now, all of the component will be named (rollover the number and it will show the component name), and go to a default page for information not entered. From there, I will begin to build the individual pages for all of the various components. The individual pages will be in the future, though.
